An important part of picking your Frenchie’s food is taking their age into consideration.

Puppies, adults, and seniors all have different dietary requirements, so it’s important that you don’t just go with whatever you see first!

If your Frenchie is a puppy, you shouldn’t be feeding them something designed for adults as puppies have different nutritional needs to help them grow into strong, healthy adults.

Another thing to keep in mind is that one Frenchie may absolutely love a wet salmon food, while another Frenchie’s stomach may be completely unable to tolerate salmon and needs a chicken diet.

What makes a good Frenchie food?

I don’t know about you, but I’ll leave the taste-testing to my Frenchie.

Let’s stick to our strengths and do some research instead.

Look for these ingredients

1. High-quality whole protein at the top of the ingredient list— look for a dog food that lists a high-quality protein source (such as chicken, turkey, or salmon) as the first ingredient. Avoid foods that list meat by-products or fillers as the main ingredient.
2. Vitamins & minerals (such as Omega 3 Fatty Acids)— a good dog food should provide all the necessary vitamins and minerals for your Frenchie’s health, including Omega 3 Fatty Acids, which can support skin and coat health, joint health, and brain development.
3. Fruits & vegetables— a dog food that includes a variety of fruits and vegetables can provide additional nutrients and fiber for your Frenchie. Look for foods that include ingredients like sweet potatoes, peas, carrots, and blueberries.
4. Healthy fats— Frenchies need a balanced diet that includes healthy fats for energy and overall health. Look for dog foods that contain healthy fats like fish oil, flaxseed oil, or chicken fat.

Try to avoid

1. Excessive protein— while protein is important, too much can strain kidneys and cause health problems. Choose a balanced diet with the right amount of protein.
